Mattie Pollock has told his Watford team-mates and supporters to keep looking up the table and not over their shoulders.
And the Hornets’ inspirational captain says new goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia - who has barely put a foot wrong since he was installed as No.1 at Vicarage Road - deserves a clean sheet after five games without a shut-out.
Pollock has taken to the skipper’s armband like a duck to orange sauce, and the captaincy has embellished his own performances in Watford’s promising start where, he feels, they have been short-changed by five points from as many games.
On paper, the double-header at home against Preston (on Tuesday night) and Stoke (on Saturday) offers the chance to bank more points and reinforce the players’ wish to turn The Vic into a fortress again.
