The Hornets ended their narrow 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion with no fewer than eight first-team players injured (Traore, Mlacic, Zemura, Bola, Bove, Baah, Grieves, Akomeah), and with three new signings not yet sufficiently up to speed for them to be risked as starters (Boadu, Mavididi, Coulibaly).
