Watford's signing of Senegal international Krepin Diatta adds to the Hornets’ abundance of pacy, exciting wide players.

Diatta, 27, arrives at Vicarage Road on a free transfer after more than five years at Monaco, where he made most of his 26 Champions League appearances.

It was surprising for a player of his pedigree to be left among the free agents who were not snapped up in the transfer window, especially after Diatta played every minute of Senegal’s four games at the World Cup, where they were unlucky to be eliminated 3-2 by Belgium in the first knockout stage.

“I am very happy to join the team,” Diatta - a former team-mate of new Hornets striker Myron Boadu at Monaco - told the club website.
