Half a century later, he remains the most venerated player ever to wear the Watford shirt. Our Favourite Son.
Luther Blissett played more games (503), and scored more goals (186), for the Hornets than anyone else in the club’s history. He became the first Watford player to win England caps, scoring a hat-trick on his full debut in a 9-0 rout of Luxembourg at Wembley, and in the season when the Hornets finished runners-up to Liverpool in 1982-83, he won the Golden Boot as top scorer in Europe’s major leagues.
