175 DAYS WITHOUT A CLEAN SHEET: We've had three Prime Ministers in fewer

Clean sheets were once the preserve of hotel laundries or Brentford Nylons (if you are old enough to remember them).

But it’s time to address the elephant in the room at Watford - and it’s not just any old pachyderm staring us in the face but Dumbo.

Look beyond the buttock-clenching grimness of a 2-1 home defeat by Stoke City, where the Hornets were outplayed and flattered by the narrow margin, and the underlying malaise is now serious enough to supersede all excuses.

It’s 175 days since Watford last kept a clean sheet, in a 0-0 draw with Leicester where a shut-out was preserved by Egil Selvik’s penalty save, and let’s put it out there so there are no misunderstandings.
